Charcoal, Turmeric, and Snails

Skin care products and ingredients seem to change quite a bit. Thanks to advancements in technology and research experts are able to determine ingredients that are even more beneficial to our skin throughout time. Utilizing natural ingredients has been something practiced for centuries, but the past few years it’s become much more main stream. Since many of us are much more aware of the pollutants and chemicals we’re exposed to, using natural ingredients is an interest when it comes to skin care. Charcoal, turmeric, and snails have been some of the trending skin care ingredients as of late. They may seem odd to use for skin, so we thought we would share how they can benefit your skin if you decide to try them out for yourself.

Charcoal
Activated charcoal has been growing significantly in the natural skin care world. You may have seen some posts on social media with individuals applying activated charcoal to their skin in the form of a mask. It may sound odd to use charcoal to HELP your skin, but the benefits charcoal have for skin are quite promising. One of the main reasons activated charcoal has been used for face masks a lot recently is because of its ability to draw oil, dirt, bacteria and other chemicals trapped beneath the skin’s surface to, well…the surface of the skin. Our skin often gets trapped with a lot of these elements which can lead to breakouts and other skin concerns, but charcoal offers a detoxing effect that’s really gentle and beneficial to the skin’s health.

Turmeric
Another ingredient that’s been getting a lot of buzz lately is turmeric. Turmeric, much like charcoal, isn’t a NEW ingredient but the benefits of using it for skin have been rediscovered in our society and with good reason. The reason turmeric has been found to act as such a powerful skin care ingredient is based on its incredible source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Many skin concerns and struggles are related to inflammation and our skin not having enough protection naturally. Antioxidants are incredible at providing a protective barrier to our skin and helping our skin to really heal itself from a lot of common struggles. In addition, inflammation has been found to be the culprit of many issues in the skin. There are quite a few ways to use turmeric in your skin care routine, the most common is in the form of creating a mask.

Snails
Using snails in your skin care routine is probably not something you would normally think of, but it’s been utilized for quite some time with great results. Just so we’re clear this isn’t putting actual slims on your face, but rather the slime (for lack of better term) from snails. As it turns out that slime snails leave behind helps in a variety of ways for the skin. It’s been found to help restore skin that’s been damaged, add more moisture to the skin’s surface, and even assist in obtaining a more even complexion.
