Classic Christmas Movies

Now that we’ve officially passed Thanksgiving (and likely ate ourselves into a food coma), it’s onto the rest of the holiday season.  Of course, if you’re like many, you’ve been in the Christmas spirit since the day after thanksgiving (hello black Friday and holiday shopping).  For us, there’s no holiday season that’s complete without watching a few classic Christmas movies.  There’s something about cuddling up on the couch with some fun snacks and hot cocoa with friends or family to watch the classic Christmas movies.  It really gets us in the holiday spirit – are you with us?  We thought it would be fun to share a few of our favorite classic Christmas movies in case you need a little inspiration for your own Christmas movie selection.

A Christmas Story
This has GOT to be one of the all-time classic Christmas movies, EVERYONE knows this flick.  It’s an old classic that’s really become synonymous with the holiday season.  Let’s be honest, there are even a few television stations that play it on repeat in the days leading up to Christmas – so you KNOW it’s a classic.  Odds are you’ve seen it multiple times (probably more), but really no Christmas season is complete without watching it at least once this holiday season.

A Charlie Brown Christmas
Ok, this is another older, classic movie – and we just had to add it to the list.  It’s been around since the 60’s but it’s still completely relevant in the holiday season now.  For us, the holidays really bring about a lot of tradition and nothing says tradition quite like turning on A Charlie Brown Christmas – if this doesn’t get you into the holiday spirit, we’re not sure what will.

The Santa Clause
This movie hasn’t been around for quite as long as the others, but it’s definitely been a classic since it came out in the 90’s.  Tim Allen really brings Santa Clause to life in this one, and you can’t NOT get excited for the holiday season when you see him transform into Santa Clause.  And who can forget that sleigh with the hot chocolate maker?  It’s got holiday season written all over it, between Santa Clause and a family storyline.  This has got to make the list of must-watch this holiday season.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Let’s be honest…when the title of the movie has Christmas in it – you know it’s going to be a Christmas movie.  How the Grinch Stole Christmas is so synonymous with the Christmas season they did a remake of it!  The original came out in the 60’s in a cartoon version and then in 2000 they brought the story to life with real actors.  Both movies are classics, while with the same storyline we’re all about watching both of them because you really do get a totally different effect from each one.  We suggest adding both to your list of holiday movies to watch this season, because who doesn’t want to re-watch all the great classic Christmas movies.
