Get Prepared For A Junk Free Stretch

When it comes to what we eat, many of us are a little guilty of including a little too much junk food in our diets.  We’re right there with you, it can be difficult really avoiding junk altogether because it’s SO easy.  But truly being junk free doesn’t have to be that difficult.  With the holidays approaching, there are so many different events with different temptations, but we know after all the parties you will probably want to get on a healthier path (we know we will!).  We’re sharing some tips to get prepared for a junk free stretch so you can eliminate some of the junk food in a more systemized way.

Go Through Your Food Now
When really getting prepared for a junk free stretch, it’s important to really get realistic on your current situation.  Take some time to go through your food selections currently.  Look through your pantry, cabinets, refrigerator, etc.  In addition, start really taking note on what you eat throughout the day when you’re not home and start writing it down.  This will give you a better idea as to what adjustments you’re going to need to make when you’re ready to start your junk free stretch.  Keep a journal if that helps, just get real with yourself on this.

Plan When and Why
Just like anything else in life, when you have a specific goal, it’s important to put dates and reasons behind them.  If you don’t put a real plan in place around the goal, it’s pretty difficult to achieve it – or even get started.  If you’re eager to get prepared for a junk free stretch start by deciding WHEN you want to have this junk free stretch, will you wait until after the new year?  Before?  You know what’s realistic for you.  But don’t forget to really get real with yourself on WHY you want to have a junk free stretch.  Is it because you want to detox yourself a bit from it?  Or maybe you just want to see just how much junk food you eat on a regular basis.  Or perhaps you just want to get on track with eating healthier.  Whatever the reason, make sure it’s something that feels good to you.

Make A List
Once you have a realistic idea as to how much junk food you have in your home, and you’re eating on a regular basis it’s crucial that you make a plan.  When you go on your junk free stretch you’re going to want to get rid of all the junk food in your home – to resist any temptation.  But when you get rid of all that food, you’re going to need to replace it all with something else.  Have a list on deck of other substitute snacks and foods that sound really good to you and that you enjoy, so that you will be able to easily replace them.

Of course, we can’t forget to mention that when you go on your junk free stretch you’re going to want to up your water intake.  Drinking more water can help you feel more full, which can resist your urge to want to snack on a lot of junk.
