Skin Savers That Prevent Thinning And Crepiness

Anti-aging skin care products and treatments are a huge focus for many of us. You too? You’re in the right place, then. There are so many different products, beliefs and tips out there it can leave even a seasoned expert wondering what to listen to and what to avoid when it comes to anti-aging skin care. While taking care of your skin and following a lot of the most common rules are strongly encouraged, there is such a thing as going overboard with those steps. Fortunately, we know some great skin savors that prevent thinning and “crepiness” from occurring in the skin.

Exfoliate with Caution
Exfoliating your skin is an incredibly important part of any skin care routine, especially when you’re focused on anti-aging skin care steps. While exfoliating is important, it’s just as important to make sure that you’re not over-exfoliating your skin. Yes, it’s possible to overdo it with exfoliating. The key is to find that balance to ensure that you’re getting the benefits from exfoliating but not causing the skin to become too overdone. Experts typically suggest that 2-3 times per week of exfoliating the skin is the ideal amount of time. When your skin becomes over exfoliated you can begin to notice your skin will become thinner and with thin skin comes the increase of skin that develops crepiness.

Use Retinol Accordingly
Similar to exfoliating, retinol skin care products have really become known to produce some pretty great results for anti-aging benefits. There are different forms of retinol, whether you get your retinol product from your dermatologist or over the counter it’s suggested that you don’t use this product every single day. Shocked? We were too! However, because of the strength of retinol products on our skin it’s important to make sure that you’re applying it consistently but not over doing it. Because it’s a product that does have strong powers and benefits for the skin, it can also cause us to have reverse reactions when it’s not used properly. Typically, experts suggest using retinol products around 2-3 times per week.

Look for Warning Signs
Exfoliating and retinol products are important, but chances are you’re using some other skin care products as well. It’s easy to get into the mindset of more is more, especially as it relates to anti-aging skin care products and steps. Experts suggest that it’s incredibly important to make sure that you’re really paying attention to how your skin reacts to different products. Since there is such a thing as over doing it with anti-aging skin care products there are a few warning signs to look out for that are typical indications that you could be doing too much in that area. It’s suggested that if you notice that you’re breaking out more often, your skin becomes more sensitive or itchy, you develop redness, or you notice that you’re experiencing dry patches on your skin…that you pair down some of the products that you’re using because these are signs of over doing it. Over doing it with skin care products can cause your skin to develop these struggles–leading to your skin thinning and showing that crepiness we’re trying to avoid.
