It’s officially feeling like fall throughout a lot of the United States now, and that means we’re starting to dress differently. Fall fashion is always fun and exciting to dress in, but you may be feeling like you want a little update. We get it, we all go through times where we don’t feel very inspired or excited about our clothes and it’s time for an update. We’re sharing some tips on how to update your wardrobe for fall so you can kick off this fall season with a stylish bang.
Decide What You Want Your Wardrobe To Be
After you go through your closet and eliminate anything that isn’t serving you anymore, it’s a great time to really think about what you want your fall wardrobe to look like. Use sites like Pinterest to gather inspiration and ideas, really get clear on what you want your wardrobe to be for this fall season. If you don’t know what you WANT your wardrobe to be, it makes it pretty difficult to actually create and update it. In this process, start making a list of things you want to add to your fall wardrobe. Keeping a list going of what you want to add will also help keep you from getting too overwhelmed. This list can include anything from a certain color handbag, or something more specific you may have in mind. It’s really just to help you organize your ideas and to keep you from purchasing things just because.
Go Through Your Closet
Ok, so you want to update your wardrobe for fall, but before you add anything, it’s really important to go through what you currently have in your wardrobe. Yep, that means you need to actually go through your closet… piece by piece. Start going through what you have and weed out anything that doesn’t fit, has any damage to it, anything that doesn’t feel like you anymore. This process is incredibly important when it comes to updating your wardrobe because it allows you to really kick start a fresh start for yourself.
Start Mixing and Matching
Mixing and matching is really where you start to feel more excited about your wardrobe, even if you haven’t had a chance to add new items into your wardrobe you can still mix up what you have currently. Spend a little time creating outfits from what you already own, put together different combinations and figure out what works and what doesn’t. This is a great exercise to do when you have some free time, get your inspiration from Pinterest, and see how you can recreate a look that you pinned from what you have in your own wardrobe. Play with layers and different color combinations, you will feel so much more updated than you think! If you decide to add some additional pieces, do this process when/after you get new items as well to really get excited about your new pieces.
