Do’s and Don’ts of Music Festivals

During the music festival season, depending on which type of venue you are attending, there are different fashions and makeup trends many people follow, and lots of behavior that even those indulging in may look back and ask themselves, ‘What was I thinking?’ Lionesse wants to help you know what to – and what not to – do during music festivals in this fun, lighthearted article.

DO Wear Comfortable Clothes and Shoes
When you’re walking around and standing on your feet all day at a music festival, the last thing you want to have to deal with is aching feet and toes, or ruining your favorite outfit in the mud. Wear something comfortable, with comfortable sandals or flats, that won’t make you want to leave just to go home and change. Opt for something like fringed shorts and a cute crop top or tank, or a cute romper and remember your sunglasses to protect your eyes. Pair your outfit with a fringed purse and you’re good to go.

DON’T Wear Your Underwear As Clothing
This has been a long running trend that just needs to die already. Wearing your underwear as clothing is not only ridiculous, embarrassing and unnecessary, but it’s something you will live to regret – especially if your picture ends up on the internet along with your face. By all means, wear underwear – but do it underneath some actual clothing.

DO Have a Good Time
Music festivals only come around once a year, so now is the time to unwind and have fun. Hang out with your friends, take lots of pictures, try some new foods, and laugh a lot. Consider it a mini vacation away from the normal routine of daily life. Dance, smile, and be free – even if just for a day.

DON’T Do Anything You’ll Regret Later
This leads us back to the ‘don’t wear your underwear as clothing’ bit. There are so many fashion mistakes to be made at a festival – don’t allow yourself to be a part of it, though. Even if your friends are doing something insane and crazy – don’t allow yourself to be part of it. If it’s something you’d be ashamed or embarrassed of later, steer clear. No music festival is worth lifelong embarrassment or going to jail.

DO Stay Hydrated
When you’re outside all day in the beating sun, you need to make sure you stay as hydrated as possible. Keep in mind caffeinated beverages and beer have the ability to dehydrate you – so be sure you keep these things to a minimum and opt for as much water as possible.

DON’T Forget Your Sunscreen
At the end of a long day of music festivals, when all is said and done, you’re makeup is a mess and you’re headed for home, the very last thing you want to deal with is a sunburn of any degree. Keep the sun from wreaking havoc on your skin and risking permanent sun damage by making the smart decision to wear sunscreen – and keep it reapplied every hour for the duration you are at the event.
