Most commonly mistaken for the “boho trend”, the romantic trend is an ageless and timeless style any woman can embrace. For some, this trend can be tricky, but when done right, it can leave you feeling like royalty, living in a modern day fairy tale, minus the wicked witch.
As with any season, fashionistas worldwide anxiously await to see how they can translate runway trends, into street style looks. However, just when we think designer’s can’t out-do themselves, they come back time and time again impressing us. Designers such as Blumarine and Roberto Cavalli wowed us this year with their Spring 2015 collections, by taking the most delicate fabrics, and redefining them from classic to modern.
A few tips to keep in mind when trying this trend is to focus on keeping your outfit well-balanced. The romantic trend is all about delicate details, soft hues, and feminine elements. Trends should often be thought of as prints. Would you pair a leopard top with leopard skinnies and leopard shoes? Probably not… This same rule can apply to the romantic trend. Rather than pairing a lace top, with a pastel midi skirt, choose one “trend” piece, and make that be the focal point of your outfit. For example, balance a lace top with a pair of boyfriend jeans. By doing this, the focus remains on what’s current and fresh. This is essentially what the term, “street style” is all about. As often said, less, is really more with this trend.
Just like shoes are important to an outfit, the way you style your hair and makeup is as well. To really flatter a romantic outfit, a messy, loose braid really adds the finishing touch. To achieve a larger, and slightly messier braid, simply braid your hair as you normally would and tie it off. Then, take your fingers, and start gently pulling on either side of your braid, as if though you are trying to stretch it. Make sure to be gentle, because you don’t want to ruin your hard work!! If braids are not your cup of tea, opting for soft curls is just as flattering.
Since the romantic trend is all about soft details, your makeup should compliment your hair and outfit, accordingly. For a daytime look, a pale lip and long lashes is one you can never go wrong with. For evening, a subtle cat-eye, or a bold red lip is just as classic.
With that said, this trend is one that you can’t help but fall in love with. After all, isn’t that what spring is all about?
