Try These Strategies To Help You Kick Butts

Are you a smoker?  Ok, we’re not going to judge you and we’re not here to lecture you either.  We’re just here to give you some tips…strategies really.  We always hear smokers talking about how they’ve tried to quit or aren’t quite sure how to go about quitting smoking to be successful and it got us thinking.  So we did a bit of research and found some ideas to help get you started.  If you’re ready to quit you’re going to want to try these strategies to help you kick butts and quit smoking – seriously!

Ask For Help
When it comes to making a big lifestyle change, like quitting smoking, it’s really important to get the help and support you need.  Telling your close friends and family that you’re on a goal to quit smoking is a great way to not only gain that emotional support, but also to help hold yourself accountable to stick with it.  Having that support system is great for the moments when quitting will feel really difficult and they can help give you words of encouragement when you need it most.  Don’t try to do it alone, ask for help!

Ease Your Stress
Many people find that when they’re in stressful situations or holding onto a lot of stress in their lives, it acts almost like a trigger for them and their smoking habit.  If you find this is something you struggle with, it’s important to do things to really get a handle on your stress levels.  Enlist in healthy alternative habits to easing your stress like meditation, exercise and yoga.  These are great ways to give you that outlet that relieves stress, but is something other than smoking.  We all have stress in our lives, so having those things that you can go to are important.  In addition, think about ways that you can eliminate some unnecessary forms of stress you may be experiencing in your life.  If there are certain things you can eliminate or outsource, do it!

Enlist In The Products
You probably already know that there are a ton of products on the market that are designed to help you quit smoking.  Give them a try!  Do some research to figure out which of the products are the best fit for you and your lifestyle, remember that just because one option worked for one person doesn’t mean it’s the perfect fit for you.  Since there are plenty of options, you’re not limited to one product, make use of the resources!

Take Your Time
Quitting smoking doesn’t happen overnight, so don’t expect it to!  Often times people expect to not have any cravings or triggers once they decide to quit, but keep in mind that you’re a human and quitting anything takes time.  Give yourself a break, celebrate even the little successes and don’t beat yourself up if you experience a little setback.  Take your time and remember that it’s a process.
